Wyoming Destinations

This is a wide-open land of spectacular mountain ranges, prairies, and deep valleys, with historic frontier towns, breathtaking scenic drives, and two of the finest national parks in the country: Yellowstone and Grand Teton.

Lewis and Clark explored the area in 1805, and settlers followed to hunt and trap in the Idaho Rockies. By the time that Idaho was declared a state in 1890, the territorial capitol had moved from Lewiston to Boise, and the first potatoes had been planted. The north and central parts of the state offer a series of spectacular mountain ranges, including the Sawtooths, Bitterroots, the Beaverhead range and the western flank of the magnificent Tetons. The Salmon River is probably the best whitewater stream on the continent.
